Why did you start Personal Training with Jon at BDA?
I am a Women's MMA fighter, and I was looking to improve my overall strength and athletic performance in my fighting. Being stronger and more explosive can really help a fighter hit harder and get out of dangerous positions in a fight.
Results since beginning training with Jon BDA?
I have seen tremendous improvement in my agility, my power, and my confidence in being able to escape bad positions. I am also building muscle while keeping my weight where it needs to be to fight in my weight class. I've also gotten some decent arm muscles and have had people ask to feel my biceps when they had just met me (strange, huh?).
What are you doing to get these results?
Jon is great because he understands fighting and that means he can develop exercises specific to my needs. We do a lot of lifts to help with explosive hip movement, we work on agility drills, we work on core exercises, and he puts together cardio type circuits that mimic what it feels like to be in a fight.
I want to continue to fight and grapple as long as my body will allow me to. I want to inspire my nephews to be strong and healthy. And I want to live life with integrity and a sense of adventure.
What do you do for fun (outside of BDA)?
I like to read, play music, spend time with family, and paint a little.
Home. My husband and my dogs are there, so that makes it my favorite place to be.
"Drive" by Incubus.
My grandmother. She never had a lot of opportunities or money, but she was so smart, fun, strong, and incredibly kind. I hope I "grow up" to be just like her.
